We ran a survey on how people are doing in the WebObjects marketplace. A full report will be available later on, but for the time being, you can look at this quick review.

  • 103 organizations answered the survey
  • Is your organization (or has it been) an ADC Select or Premium member?
    • 42.7% of organizations are currently ADC members.
    • 17.% of organizations where members before.
    • 29.1% of organizations are not members of ADC because of cost reasons.
    • 10.7% of organizations are not members of ADC for an another reason than cost.
  • 32% of organizations attended WWDC in the past two years.
  • 25.2% of organizations sells products that ship with the WebObjects frameworks.
  • 50.5% of organizations sells hosted WebObjects solutions?
  • 35% of organizations also develop applications with Cocoa.
  • The biggest WebObjects’ strengths are EOF, RAD environment and maturity.
  • The biggest WebObjects weaknesses are the development tools, uncertanity and the learning curve.
  • Most asked feature: a full blown Ajax framework.
  • 41.7% of organizations thinks that WO is still a major player in the application servers arena.
  • 41.7% of organizations thinks that the competition (Ruby on Rails, .net, Hibernate, Cayenne, etc.) is getting closer, 31% thinks that WO is still ahead and will continue to be.
