Job Title: Java Developer for Clinical Web Application
Job Description:
The Institutes has developed a working prototype of a web based application created in WebObjects. We are looking for a Java developer who can complete the web-application on a part time basis over the next few months. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Convert system design models and system requirements into code.
- Analyze and troubleshoot existing prototype application and correct bugs and errors.
- Gather new system requirements from clinicians as needed.
- Establish and maintain user guides and technical documentation that describes program code, logic, changes and corrections.
- Establish and maintain a bug tracking system.
- Perform database modeling changes based on code creation and modification.
- Assist the IT Director with the configuration and maintenance of the server environment (development server, hosted production server, backup strategy, maintenance, etc.).
- The developer must be able to code independently and will serve as lead developer throughout the development process.
- The developer may be required to participate in the preparation of data to be used in clinical studies (ie run custom reports and develop miniature ‘study’ applications).
Job Type: Contract Position (Part-time) 15-20 hours per week. As needed developer must work on the campus of The Institutes, telecommuting ok. $20-$30 per hour.
Potential long term work: Successful candidate will be asked to maintain the web application in the future, create new add-on modules, etc.
Requirements:
Must have:
- 2 years experience with Java programming (preferably using WebObjects/EOModeler) in the design and creation of web-based applications.
- Experience with integration of databases.
- Experience with AJAX.
- Experience with MySQL (phpMyAdmin).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Passion for helping children through technology.
- Apple Macintosh Computer w/WebObjects (for Development when telecommuting).
Nice to have:
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science
- Foreign Language skills: knowledge of Spanish, Japanese, Italian, French, are all plusses.
